| Ron was raised in central Washington state while Sally grew up in Visalia, California. They met early in their freshman year at Columbia Christian College and married in June 1980. Ron graduated from Columbia in 1982 and began work at a public accounting firm in Portland shortly thereafter. During his time there he passed the Certified Public Accountant exam and received his CPA license in 1984. During this time Sally worked office jobs in Portland ranging from accounting clerk to head bookkeeper for a major Portland law firm. With the birth of their first daughter Sally became a homemaker and contract bookkeeper for a few clients. Since then Sally has been a school volunteer, part-time and full-time bookkeeper and for the past six years has been a licensed tax preparer. After leaving public accounting in 1985, Ron has worked for four other companies handling a variety of accounting and financial responsibilities. They moved to Medford in 1989 when Ron went to work at Harry & David. For the past 12 years, he has worked for Kathrein Inc., Scala Division, a maker of antenna systems for broadcasting and wireless communications, and is currently the Vice President of Finance.
Ron and Sally have two daughters who grew up at West Main. Kayla now lives in Portland after graduating from Pepperdine University and works in human resources for Adidas North America. She attends and is very active at Agape Church of Christ. Brooke graduated from Abilene Christian University and is married to Ezra Witt. They reside in Riverside, CA where Ezra serves as the youth and family minister at Magnolia Center Church of Christ. Ron and Sally are both from Christian homes and became Christians at age 14 and 10 respectively. Both of their fathers were elders of the church. They have served at Eastside in Portland and Westside in Beaverton before moving to Medford. For several years Ron has been and continues to be involved with Grace Christian School/Cascade Christian High School, assisting with their ministry in many ways including announcing varsity sports events. During their years at West Main, Ron has been a deacon, worship leader and adult class teacher while Sally has spent several years helping with Cradle Roll classes – a gift she got from her mother. When asked about their service at West Main, they said, “We have been honored to serve in various capacities over the past 22 years and have no intention of stopping. Our parents are examples to us of continued service to the Lord’s church in good and bad times and regardless of age. A title or position does not matter, we just want to continue serving the Lord.” |
