| Gerald (Gerry) Earl Flock was born in Ontario, OR on June 8, 1961. The family moved in his teen-age years to Central Point from Klamath Falls in 1976, where he had been baptized at age fourteen. He graduated from Crater High School in 1979. He graduated with an education degree from Columbia Christian College in Portland, Oregon, in 1983, where he met his wife, September. In 1990 he received the Masters of Music Education from the University of Oregon. Over twenty years, he taught instrumental and vocal music in many of the schools in Southern Oregon before becoming Dean of Students at Hedrick Middle School (2003-2004) and Principal of Orchard Hill Elementary School in the Phoenix-Talent School District in 2004. In 2010, he was appointed to be principal of Wilson Elementary School. He has sung in the Adult Valley Chorale and directs the Valley Children's singing group in which many West Main children have performed.
After both had received their Bachelor's degree in education, Gerry and September were married in August 1983. Their three sons grew up in the West Main family: Shayne, married to Vanessa; Tyler, attending Concordia College; and Thaddeaus is completing a culinary externship. Their parenting skills have been exemplary as have been their model in Christian marriage. Gerry has served as a Youth Minister at West Main and as a deacon (1990-2003). He followed his esteemed father in becoming an Elder in 2004. For years, he has been active as a premier song leader and director of worship. He has employed his accomplished teaching skills in the educational programs of the church. Gerry has been a pacesetter in the Cell Group efforts of the congregation. Gerry has endeared himself to the West Main family for his extraordinary, servant leadership, his open, caring heart and commitment to spiritual growth and family development. |
